MDA to Provide EADS Astrium with Ka-Sat Antenna System

[Satellite Today 10-28-08] MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA) signed a contract with EADS Astrium for an antenna system to be used on the Ka-Sat satellite, MDA announced Oct. 27.
Under the contract, valued at more than 6 million Canadian dollars ($4.6 million), MDA will provide four transmit and receive antennas, which will provide the satellite's multiple gateway and user beams. Eutelsat will use Ka-Sat for consumer broadband services across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East as well as for local, regional and high-definition broadcast services.
In early October, MDA signed a 10 million Canadian dollar ($7.7 million) contract with EADS Astrium to provide a high power satellite antenna feed for the Alphasat spacecraft, one of the world's largest telecommunications satellites.
